You can bully 911s with this reliable Boxster. Just on,
The problem with a Porsche Boxster of the 986 and 987 generation is that you have the defects and maintenance costs of a 911 (996 and 997), but you do not have the performance and prestige of a Neun-Elfer.
The big issue is the IMS, EMS and so on. There seem to be some bearings that are not great and according to the internet that can go wrong ANY time. So what do you do? Replace that trade. That is of course very expensive. And if you know that there are certain costs involved, it is not surprising that people automatically prefer to choose the 996.
Boxster with V8
But in this case you should certainly not skip the 986 Boxster. It is not a standard Boxster, but one with a different engine: a real V8. Of course, we already revealed that in the title, so you wouldn't have expected anything different.
But where does the V8 come from? At Porsche? No. At Audi! Yes, we thought that only one V8 would be suitable: the LS3 from General Motors is perhaps the best crate engine that is simply brilliant in any car. But no, it's a heavier, bigger, more complex, weaker and less robust Audi V8.
Then buy
Now one 4.2 V8 from Audi is not the same as another 4.2 V8 from Audi. It is the so-called 'ABZ' engine according to the seller. If you are not familiar with that block, it is the 4.2 with 4 valves per cylinder that Audi supplied in the A8 from 1994 to 1999. That is a fairly strong, straight-forward V8 without direct injection or other difficult technology. Perfect for an engine swap like this.
It is a track day car with the necessary modifications. Considering the fact that it has an OS Giken plate limited-slip differential, KW suspension, Probax seats and 996 Turbo brakes, we assume that it is a very entertaining track car.
OEM enthusiasts should look the other way, but they only look at 911s anyway. The car is currently not registered, but that can be arranged. It's yours for 19,986 (haha). Interested? You can view the advertisement here!
