The photographer Orlando Brito died in the early hours of this Friday (11). He was 72 years old and suffered from multiple organ failure following bowel surgery. He was hospitalized at the Taguatinga Regional Hospital (HRT) for 34 days.
Born in the Minas Gerais city of Janaúba in 1950, he arrived in the Federal District at the inauguration of the city with his family and lived in the capital throughout his life. Brito had an outstanding role in political coverage in Brazil, in addition to having passed through more than 60 countries covering papal and presidential coverage, as well as sporting events, such as the World Cup and the Olympic Games.

The beginning of his career was as a laboratory technician at the Rio de Janeiro newspaper Última Hora, when he was only 14 years old. After that, he went through major newsrooms such as O Globo, Veja, Caras and Jornal do Brasil.
He currently ran his own news agency, ObritoNews, and held courses and workshops throughout Brazil. In addition, he was preparing three books on photography.
