The Dutchman is ready for a wet weekend
Despite ‘revisable’ performances in the last race weekends Sergio Perez has formalized his two-year renewal with Red Bull until 2026. The Mexican driver thus extends a working relationship that began in Milton Keynes in 2021 and Perez will therefore spend at least six seasons with the colors of the Anglo-Austrian team.
Checo thus responded to those who maliciously claimed that his renewal is a ‘sop’ for Verstappen in a difficult moment for the team in light of the departure of various key figures, above all that of Adrian Newey. Verstappen also distanced himself from the hypothesis that he had a say in Red Bull’s decision to renew Sergio Perez: “I didn’t have any roleI’m simply happy that Perez has renewed, I feel good with him and for the team it was the best thing to do to renew his contract.”
Verstappen is not that worried about the form of Red Bull which appeared more than vulnerable in the last race weekends: “We knew Monaco could be difficult for us and it’s always a chaotic weekend. We have a direction in which to work to improve and we will see if we can do it step by step, the car is fast. Here we will also have to deal with the weather, there are tracks that suit our car better and others less so. The opponents have certainly closed the gap a bitWe will see”.
