Max Verstappen’s first career win in Montreal – and Red Bull’s first success on the Canadian circuit since 2014 – had a decidedly unusual following. In fact, on the sidelines of the traditional post-race celebrations held in the Milton Keynes garage, some Canadian police drug dogs. The unusual inspection was documented by Sky Sports F1 journalist Ted Kravitz, who reported the curious presence of the Austrian team near the garage. The visit came shortly after the victory celebrations, as the team was packing material for the return trip from Canada to Europe.
Kravitz revealed that he was intrigued by the presence of some Red Bull mechanics who were standing motionless in front of their garage. These confirmed that they were unable to enter the garage because a search was in progress. This type of intervention is customary and is carried out both towards the teams and the professionals, for example in the press room. The fact that it took place in Red Bull is therefore purely coincidental, it could have been done at any other team. Kravitz, however, said he was amazed above all by the timing of the check. “These inspections are often repeated – confirmed the British journalist – I just found the timing a bit strange: right after the awards ceremony and at a stage where a team has a lot of work to do“.
