The lawyer of the rector of Shaninka – Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (MSSES) – Sergey Zuev Sergey Sevruk commented in an interview with RIA News house arrest of his client on suspicion of embezzling 21 million rubles. He noted that he was satisfied with the decision of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow.
“We consider the choice of a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest as a great achievement in Russia today,” the lawyer said.
According to him, Zuev refused hospitalization due to exacerbation of hypertension, he was supposed to go to the first city hospital, but instead went for an interrogation, which lasted more than 12 hours. Sevruk specified that this disease is included in the list in order to exclude a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Earlier, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow issued a house arrest warrant for the rector of Shaninka – the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (MSSES) – Sergei Zuev. At the same time, the court refused to choose the preventive measure requested by the investigator in the form of detention until December 7, 2021.
Zuev refused to admit his guilt. The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that he was suspected of fraud with funds from the Fund for New Forms of Education Development. Former employees of the foundation Yevgeny Zak and Maxim Inkin, former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova and Executive Director of Shaninka Kristina Kryuchkova are being prosecuted in the same criminal case.
