The Red Cross recently presented its VI Awards for Labor Inclusion in the Region of Murcia, at the Romea Theater in Murcia. These awards are intended to recognize the collaboration and involvement of public and private entities in the development of actions that promote the labor insertion of people in socio-labor difficulties.
The event, which was presented by Encarna Talavera, was attended by various personalities, including the Mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano; the Minister of Transparency, Security and Emergencies, Antonio Sánchez Lorente; the general director of the SEF, Marisa López Aragón, and the Autonomous President of the Murcia Region Red Cross, Faustino Herrero.
In the category of ‘Alliances to Improve Employability’, ElPozo Alimentación, Embargos a lo beast and Jumilla City Council were distinguished. The Grupo Fuertes company stands out for its collaboration in the development of opportunities, creation of advisory spaces on the sector and the most demanded profiles, and for facilitating visits to its facilities to better understand the reality of this industry and the position of activity. Embargos a lo bestia, specialized in low-cost products, has contributed to the transfer of training and teaching spaces for the tutoring of training processes in situ, generating bridges between training and real learning through the company’s own professionals. For its part, the Jumillano Consistory collaborates with the development of active employment policies that help improve the employability of people, providing the necessary resources for their training and subsequent job placement.
It develops activities framed in the ‘Employment Plan’, which seeks to guarantee equal opportunities
In the category of ‘Alliances for Contracting’, Dealz Spain and Alimer (the Mediterranean Food cooperative) were recognized. To the discount chain, for trusting the Red Cross in hiring new workers to fill the required positions in its establishments in the Region of Murcia, as well as in the definition of professional profiles based on personal and professional skills to reduce the weight of prejudices and stereotypes and joint analysis of the suitability of the available candidatures. And to Alimer, for highlighting and facilitating the hiring of vulnerable groups.
In the category of ‘Add to Multiply Alliances’, they awarded the City Council of Alhama de Murcia and Proexport. The Alhameño Council collaborates, through economic contributions, in activities that have contributed to financing more and better interventions and, therefore, the employment opportunities of people in vulnerable situations. The Association of Producers-Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables of the Region of Murcia and its agricultural companies develop a deep implication and commitment in terms of employment to help the most vulnerable groups.
In the category of ‘Alliances for the Change of Mentalities’, 2 Veces Marketing stood out, for carrying out awareness-raising actions for the change of mentalities with a transformative vision of the job market. In the ‘Social Challenge’ category, an award was given to TSI Levante, for promoting the hiring of personnel, regardless of their gender, religion, ethnic origin or disability, generating more added value to their human resources. And in the category of ‘Business Development Initiatives’, the award went to the nursery school ‘Clouds of cotton’, located in the Carmen neighborhood of Murcia.
More than two decades
The Spanish Red Cross has a firm commitment to the labor insertion of people with social difficulties or those who are very far from the labor market. For this reason, in 2000, it created the ‘Employment Plan’ so that these people, with their effort and the support of the humanitarian movement teams, overcome their difficulties, strengthen their capacities and be in better conditions to have a job.

In this sense, the organization is convinced that a job “is more than a source of income, it is one of the main means for people to be and feel an active part of society and one of the key elements so that both they and their families can have sustained livelihoods and promote their social inclusion. Likewise, it has launched different initiatives in the field of labor insertion that have been adapted to the situation of each moment to give answers, increasingly precise and adjusted, to the needs that allow improving the position of people in the labor market.
During this time, its achievements have been oriented in three directions: reinforcing people’s capacities to improve employability; facilitate access to and maintenance of a job, and generate more equal opportunities and treatment in society, changing the mentalities of the closest environments. Achieving these objectives, underlines the Red Cross, requires the effort and commitment of the participants in its projects and of alliances with public administrations and private companies.
Deserved acknowledgments
Likewise, in 2016, the project ‘Business Social Challenge for Labor Insertion: Alliances’ was born, within the Operational Program of Social Inclusion and Social Economy and financed by the European Social Fund through the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, with the mission to guarantee the labor insertion of people in socio-labor difficulties from a comprehensive approach, promoting inclusive markets with a local focus. The following year alone, 1,168 companies were contacted, of which 445 wanted to join the ‘Business Social Challenge’ with 1,148 alliances (collaborations).
Hence the creation of the ‘Alliances Awards’, which are now in their sixth edition and aim to value the collaboration and involvement of public and private entities that promote job placement.
The Red Cross affirms that “achieving an increasingly just and cohesive society, in which equal opportunities and treatment are a reality, is something that the Employment Plan in the Region of Murcia works on every day.”
