Suqia Emirates Foundation announced the extension of registration for the fourth session of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, which is worth one million US dollars, due to the increasing demand for participation. The award aims to find sustainable and innovative solutions to address the problem of water scarcity around the world.
According to a statement issued yesterday, companies, research centers, research institutes, innovators and young people from all over the world can complete and submit applications to participate in the award until the end of May 2024. The award seeks to encourage the development of innovative projects, technologies and models in the field of water desalination and purification using renewable energy sources that include Solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy, hydro energy, osmotic energy, and geothermal energy.
The award translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to enhance the UAE’s efforts in confronting the challenges of water scarcity, and to find sustainable solutions that ensure the availability of fresh water for all, especially poor and afflicted communities around the world. The world and the most affected groups, to ensure a brighter future for our coming generations.
The award contributes to supporting the sixth goal of the 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations for the year 2030, which is to ensure the availability of water and sanitation services for all, by stimulating innovation and investing in the latest technologies to help less developed societies achieve sustainable development.
