Real Madrid is in talks with Monaco over the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni, as reported by 90min in England, but the two clubs are currently far apart in their valuations of the midfielder.
The 22-year-old is of interest across much of Europe after another stellar season in Ligue 1, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain particularly interested.
90min revealed that the Blues pursued Tchouameni last summer, while a source claimed that the Reds believed their own deal for the French international was “90% done” a couple of weeks ago.
PSG have also pushed hard to sign him, with Kylian Mbappe and incoming sporting director Luis Campos being big fans.
However, Monaco have allowed Tchouameni to freely choose his next club, so the player is on his way to the Santiago Bernabéu after having decided to sign for Real Madrid, and now all that remains is for a fee to be agreed between the clubs.
However, Real Madrid is not willing to pay more than 60 million euros for the midfielder while Monaco has priced him at 80.
In a recent interview with CNN, Tchouameni admitted that he “just wants to win” and that he would be able to adapt to the different styles of football in Spain or England.
“I’m an ambitious person. Every time I do something… I just want to win,” he said. “If I want to be great, I have to adapt to find some things that allow me to grow as a player.”
“I like both [países]: I can watch the Spanish and English matches. It’s different to play in Spain and it’s different to play in England, but in the end, for me, it’s just a matter of adaptation.”
