The experience of injustice weakens attachment to society.
Prime minister Petteri Orpon (kok) the priorities of the government's economic policy are economic stability, employment, economic growth and securing welfare services. In order to realize these goals, supporting young people through the transitions to adulthood would be of paramount importance.
The biological pressure to start a family coincides with the end of education and transition to working life. As the most recent Youth Barometer shows, the realization of transitions is connected to well-being. Because of the future maintenance relationship, efforts should be made to ensure the livelihood and well-being of young people.
In the world there are now many factors causing concern and uncertainty. Uncertainty about the future is burdensome. Savings in education cut skills, confidence and competitiveness.
Some young people need support or rehabilitation to study or work. For some of them, the need for rehabilitation is due to difficulties in learning, mental health or social relationships that have accumulated over a longer period of time. The need for mental health services for young people is already great, and access to services is slow and difficult. Society can influence survival and well-being through political decisions.
“
Uncertainty about the future burdens young people.
Financial ones ensuring the prerequisites is an important part of supporting the well-being of young people. Functionality is built from mutually influencing components. If the financial situation deteriorates, it also affects resources and opportunities to progress in studies, graduate or find a job. Financial difficulties and indebtedness cannot but affect well-being and learning negatively.
Subsidy cuts, index freezing of student allowances and increases in value added tax will especially worsen the situation of the needy and increase inequality. Cross-generational polarization intensifies as a result of the weakening of benefits also because parents of wealthy families have many direct and indirect ways to support their offspring financially, while some parents do not have the means to support their children. Some young people don't have parents. Working takes energy away from studying. In addition, money earned at work reduces benefits, which indirect support from parents does not. Belief in the possibilities of repaying the loan is also connected to background and wealth.
Adolescence is a stage of life where both preventive and corrective help can be more effective than in later stages of life. Youth work supports the well-being of young people in many ways. Now, historically drastic cuts are being made to that as well.
To be unfair perceived political solutions weaken the atmosphere of positive cooperation between people and attachment to society. Intergenerational solidarity is important. And so is the equal treatment of people from different cultural backgrounds. The recovery of the young generation from the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic should be ensured instead of making them pay for balancing the economy. Too much has been cut from the young age groups.
