Reader’s Opinion | Queues for dental treatment are actively shortened

Helsingin sanomat newspaper wrote on 27.8. From the oral health care of the city of Helsinki.

In urgent cases, you can get dental treatment in Helsinki on the same day. Waiting times for non-urgent dental care have increased. The background to the difficulties in accessing treatment is the medical debt caused by the corona pandemic, the increase in demand for services and the fact that there is a nationwide shortage of dental care professionals, both in the public and private sectors. In particular, there is a shortage of dental hygienists and specialist dentists.

The problem areas have been identified and the queues are progressing daily. By June 2022, we were able to dismantle the treatment queue of customers who were canceled due to corona measures, and bring the children’s periodic oral health checks up to date. It is now even easier to contact the dentist.

Despite the high demand for services and the availability of personnel, we have moved forward with determination. The entire staff of the oral health care of the city of Helsinki does their best for the oral health of the city’s residents.
