Reader opinion Wind power should be produced close to consumption

Anne Tolvanen and Markku Remes brought on the opinion page (HS 21.4.) Raises the question of where wind farms can and should be built. In addition to environmental values, their location is affected by many social and economic factors.

At present, production and consumption are geographically separated. However, efforts should also be made to generate electricity from wind power as close as possible to consumption. In addition to large population concentrations, this means large industrial production facilities.

Wind power is a cost-effective way to produce renewable electricity. There are many areas in Finland suitable for wind power production, when there is only a common will to increase our energy self-sufficiency. There are no oil deposits in Finland, but we have a significant wind energy reserve with which we can create well-being and prosperity for our society.
