Rayo Vallecano manager breaks silence on James Rodriguez signing option: ‘He is a very important player’

TO James Rodriguez Time is running out for him to decide his sporting future, after his departure from Sao Paulo in Brazil and with several options that have fallen through.

The possibility of returning to Spain is on the table, but time is running out, as the Spanish League will close its transfer window on August 30.

James was already ruled out last week by thel River Plate of Argentina, a club for which he had strong rumours but where nothing concrete came of it.

In that scenario, Rayo would be the lifeline for James to decide his future, just a few days before the Colombian national team’s squad for the qualifying matches against Peru and Argentina is announced.

‘James is not in the squad’

Well now the one who was consulted about James was the Rayo Vallecano coach himself, Inigo Perezwho addressed the issue for the first time, although without providing any details.

In a press conference, the coach was specific: “James is not in the squad and I cannot speak about players who are not there. I understand the media fuss that was generated because he is a very important player in the world of football and he proved it very recently, in the Copa America. I cannot go any further, because I do not have more information than you may have.”said the coach.

He added: “Now, it is true that James is a very important player in football all over the world.”

James has also been linked with Italian football, as it is known that he has been interested in reaching Serie A for some time, the only one of the big five that he is missing in his sporting career. At the time he was rejected by Lazio and in recent days he has been linked with Fiorentina.
