The African leader called the incident “one of the worst storms in history” on a released statement on Facebook on Tuesday (Apr 12). “The heavy rains have caused untold damage and massive damage to people and infrastructure”he added.
The prefecture of the province carried out several rescue operations in the evacuation of people. In one of the largest ports in the region, several stacked containers fell onto the roads, disrupting traffic.
On Tuesday (Apr 12) Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala visited the municipality and carried out assessments of the damage caused by the disaster.
