No one was injured in the fire, the rescue service says.
Test drive flames were noticed on the roof of the tram that had been on Hämeentie in Helsinki on Friday afternoon.
The tram was returning to the Vallila depot when the flames were noticed.
The pit staff took care of the initial extinguishing, and the fire department extinguished the fire from the beginning to the end with hand extinguishers.
Rescue service according to no one was injured in the accident.
The cause of the fire was probably a technical fault, said the fire marshal on duty Petri Korhonen from the Helsinki Rescue Service.
“Some part had apparently snapped.”
The flames were no longer visible when the rescue service arrived.
