It rains on wet in Sierra Espuña. Floods in the area of the Alhama orchards along the wild avenue of the Rambla de Los Molinos
The rain of recent days has left quantities above 400 liters per square meter in Sierra Espuña, which has made the torrents, springs and boulevards full of flow, to which adding the damp soil and the little filtration of the ground, episodes of flooding are taking place at the mouth of the river known as the Espuña River, as it passes through the orchard, known as the Rambla de Los Molinos.
This boulevard already descended with great flow last Wednesday at the end of the day, affecting more than twenty houses, where the water burst walls, carried out drags and flooded many of those houses.
The Local Police cut off access to the area and the Alhama-Totana park firefighters had to rescue a vehicle that was trapped in the water, as well as evacuating an entire family due to the great virulence of the water.
The torrent of water also burst the drinking water pipes in the area of the orchards and the lower districts of Alhama, which caused the company that manages the water service, in principle, to provisionally set up an outlet for the pipe, proceeding on Friday for repair.
But the incessant rain, both in the region of Bajo Guadalentín, especially that of the Sierra Espuña mountain range, again meant that, for the second time, this Friday the boulevards were filled with water and mud.
Mud-swamped pools, flooded basements, busted fences, collapsed walls and dead poultry were left in its wake, as it flooded a large area with a large number of rural homes, many of them primary residences.
One of the neighbors denounced these incidents to the Civil Guard, as well as another series of neighbors are in the process of, first, meeting with the mayor, Mariola Guevara, and trying to get the Segura Hydrographic Confederation to take action on the matter to resolve this situation of floods and danger.
