The event Wow 16 It will be a new milestone in the Spanish martial arts (MMA). Fighters of different categories will compete in a series of Professional and amateur fighting in Bilbao On February 15 in an evening with very high expectations around the national panorama of contact sports.
One of the most anticipated fighting was going to face Rachid ‘El Tornado’ Archaoui against the Italian Luca Biuso, but the fighter of Moroccan origin, who has reviewed the incipient event with 20 minuteshas already confirmed that His new rival will be Kevin Valderas.
There are just a few days left for fighting at the Wow 16. How is it? I am physically very well, better than ever. Mentally also, since now the only thing that remains is to lose weight, and with that, to enjoy.
How much is cutting?Right now I would miss almost five kilos. I usually cut between eight and nine kilos.
And how does it cope with such a bestial weight in just a few days? The truth is that I get along. We have professional boys behind this who control everything, they take us the diet, the weight loss … We are going well.
There are very few days left, and this heights, in addition to the obvious weight loss, what does it focus more during your training? Now the most important thing is the physicist, since with the weight loss you take a lot to remove kilos to give the weight on Friday. From Friday I will focus more on the fight.
His last victories have come by submission. Is that the plan also for this weekend? No, the truth is that my plan has always been to finish the fights above, but most of the fights have ended them below. I hope this weekend finish it up.
So it is a thing of statistics … how would it be defined as a fighter?I consider myself better in the Striking That a floor boy.
What is your plan for 2025?I would like to advance, fight as much as possible this year if the body allows me, that hopefully allows me. I would like to do three or four fights this year.
How are the fighters living the explosion of popularity of the MMA in Spain?ILIA’s boom is very favoring us [Topuria]and that champions of Spain come out. That is Guay, because in the end we are giving more visibility to the fighters at home, who have always been a bit half -sections of society. We have been half bad, but now they begin to respect us more, to be interested in our sport … Now we are much better than before.
And in Morocco? In Morocco there are always very good boys, and all Moroccan boys come out good. Worldwide, those who succeed are those who leave Morocco, because there are hardly any opportunities, they are not as much luck as us. There should be Marroquís outside the country to become world champions, which is what happened with Khabib [Nurmagomedov]with Ilia … people see them as an example, and want to follow the steps of the champions.
Areas such as Daguestán or Chehenia highlight a lot in MMA. Is there a big difference in the fighting culture in each region?I think it has nothing to do with the country, but with discipline, the age with which one begins … Daguestán has these people because they begin since they are born. They take off the pacifier and are already fighting. It is the same that happens in Spain with football, but here there is no culture of the Jiu-Jitsu and the MMA. Most people start a little late, with 18, 20 years …
When did you start training?I started training MMA five or six years ago. He had previously started by K1, and after there our coach made us go to MMA; He is the same coach I have now. The K1 team has passed to MMA, and it is seen in the results that have been very good for us.
Is it difficult to change from one discipline to another?Yes, at first it costs everything, because you feel that you are not worth anything. You think you are a machine above, that you hit like nobody, that you are great, but then you go down, it grabs the little girl in the gym on the floor and does what you want with you.
Have you thought about expanding and doing other martial arts at the same time to reinforce your training and fighting ability?I already do, I do Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, Boxing, K1 … I try to train everything that can help me in the MMA. I combine everything, and try to make the maximum training per week.
What is your prediction for the fight this weekend? At the last minute they have changed the opponent, and my prediction was to knock him out in the second assault, and I will keep it. It will be the same. I’m going to knock him out in the second assault, hopefully.
How does the preparation adjust when the opponent changes at the last minute? He Game plan What we had was to finish the fight and we continue to have the same plan, finish the fight against Kevin Valderas. It will be the same objective.
What do you think of Wow, which is already going for its 16th numbered event? It is a past whore. I remember the first day … I’ve been in Wow, not fighting, but very close, because I have a partner fighting from the beginning. It has always been a pride to see him fight, and now seeing me fight at home, in front of my people, it is a pass.
At some point the promotion will have to introduce belts. Do you have it as a goal?If they put them in front, we will have to go for them.
