Raahe|Experienced hunter Unto Kellola told in an interview with Radio Pook how a wolf attacked his dog from behind a tree.
Wolf attacked a dog and knocked down a man who was walking it on Monday evening in Raahe, North Ostrobothnia, informs the Finnish Hunting Association.
An experienced diver who encountered a wolf Unto Kellola told Wednesday afternoon In an interview with Radio Pookthat the situation started when he was out with his dog in Honganpalo, Raahe. It was half past nine in the evening and the two were driving on a dark gravel road.
Kellola, who was on the move on her bike, had been wondering for a while why the dog was behaving strangely timidly. The dog on the leash started walking right next to the bike.
After that, the situation progressed quickly. At the clock, I could see the wolf’s head behind the fir tree. Soon he heard the dog whimpering loudly with a miserable sound. After that, the dog ran to the other side of the road into a thick bush and knocked Kellola’s bike to the ground.
“The wolf had to have a hunting instinct,” Kelllola assessed in a radio interview.
“It must have tried to take the dog.”
However, the man’s loud scream and witchcraft caused the wolf to run away.
Dog was scared the whole evening after the incident, Kellola tells Radio Pook. However, the wolf was unable to wound it. The only thing left behind from the attack was a palm-sized amount of wolf drool that had dried up on the right platform. Kellola hurt his elbow and sprained his knee when he fell.
Operations manager of the Raahe game management association Ilkka Seppälä tells HS that the gravel road between the settlements is also used by the students of the nearby Honganpalo school.
Kellola also told about the encounter For Kaleva. Kellola tells the newspaper that she has seen a wolf 4 times before, but never this close. According to him, the Honganpalo wolf was large.
“
“Pientare had a scratch mark.”
Tuesday in the morning, Seppälä and Kellola went together to inspect the meeting place. Seppälä tells HS that he fully trusts Kellola’s assessment that it was a wolf and not a dog.
“Dogs want to growl at each other, but this animal didn’t make a sound. The dog’s behavior strengthens the observation,” Seppälä assesses.
At the meeting place, Seppälä saw the mark left by the wolf’s paw.
“Pientare had a scratch mark. There were no clear sensor marks on the pine cloth, but the nail marks were clearly visible.”
On Tuesday, Seppälä had no new observations about the wolf. He estimates that the wolf may have already traveled elsewhere, because the meeting place is so peaceful.
The Oulu Police Department has been notified of the situation, the police situation center informs HS. The actual police work regarding the wolf has not started.
