Putin will require guarantees of the non -adhesion of Ukraine to NATO and warns Europe about the “consequences” of the deployment of troops

Grushko, following the same line as his boss, Serguéi Lavrovhas also spoken against the deployment of peace forces of NATO countries in Ukraine. “The maintenance of peace and NATO are generally incompatible things (…) The true history of the alliance consists in carrying out military operations,” said the Russian vice minister.

According to his words, Russia “does not care at all under which flag the NATO contingents can be deployed in the territory of Ukraine: be it the European Union, the OA national alliance itself each country separately (…) in any case, if they appear there, it means that they are being deployed in the conflict zone, with all the consequences that this implies.” The United Kingdom, France and other EU countries have already announced their intention to send interposition troops to Ukraine when peace is signed.

Grushko added that «the question about some kind of international support to the agreement can only be addressed when it is completed. And, if the parties agree on the need for that international participation, an issue of debate opens. We could talk about unarmed observers, a civil mission that supervises the implementation of each aspect of the agreed or other guarantee mechanisms, but for now all this are empty words ».

For his part, the advisor of the Kremlin of Exterior Policy and Negotiator with the United States, Yuri Ushakovhe reiterated on Sunday the position already exposed by Putin that Moscow “has transmitted to Washington its concern about the proposal of Alto El Fuego” agreed in Saudi Arabia between the US and Ukraine, since, according to their point of view, “it is an attempt to give a break to the Ukrainian army in a moment when they go through difficult times.”

The maximum Russian leader made clear last Thursday that “the idea of ​​a high fire is correct, but it has its nuances, there are aspects that must be discussed.” In his opinion, Russia wishes the end of hostilities “but so that a non -transient peace is achieved but in the long term and the causes of the crisis are eliminated.”

Putin also considered that the truce “could be used by Ukraine to obtain weapons or mobilize more forces.” Another objection of the Kremlin chief was that the control and verification issues of the truce are not clear (…) presumably very complex to monitor possible violations of the high fire when the contact line in Ukraine has a length of 2,000 kilometers ». Such an approach, according to observers, makes it impossible to address the cessation of war or hinders it extraordinarily.
