MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that the country must work to increase its economic sovereignty and that the West will always find an excuse to impose sanctions on Moscow.
The West has threatened Russia with heavy sanctions if it invades Ukraine, after the Kremlin gathered forces near its neighbor, a former Soviet republic. Moscow denies planning an invasion.
Putin made the remarks during a press conference in the Russian capital.
