President Vladimir Putin has appointed Boris Gryzlov as Russian Ambassador to Belarus. The relevant decree published on the official portal of legal information.
The fact that Gryzlov could become the new Russian ambassador to Minsk became known at the end of December 2021. On January 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus agreed on his candidacy.
Since 2015, Gryzlov has been Russia’s plenipotentiary in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) to resolve the conflict in Donbass. From 2001 to 2003, he headed the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was also chairman of the State Duma of the IV and V convocations.
On March 25, 2021, Putin appointed Yevgeny Lukyanov as Russian Ambassador to Belarus.
