It was in the air but now we have the official: Sony has confirmed that the new PSVR 2 it will not be backwards compatible, therefore, those who own titles dedicated to the first version of the viewer, will not be able to use them in the new generation one.
For some it may be a bad blow but obviously it is the price to pay for having a more sophisticated technology and avoiding compatibility problems. PSVR 2 actually represents a big leap forward compared to the previous generation, not only because it can count on a much more powerful base (PlayStation 5) but also because it has a series of hardware improvements such as haptic feedback and eye tracking.
Of course, for those who believed in this technology right from the start, collecting several games on PSVR finds themselves with a handful of flies, forced to mount the old version if you want to replay someone. You would still have time to do it, given that the new PSVR 2 will arrive in 2023, also awaiting the communication of prices.
