Chihuahua.- The Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences participated in the workshop “Protocol for action in response to the mass death of bees caused by the application of pesticides and institutional support strategy,” according to a statement issued by the Autonomous University of Chihuahua.
During the launch, Jorge Sánchez Bernal, director of this academic unit, emphasized the importance of preserving and protecting these pollinators, as well as their relevance in agriculture.
César Valdovinos Flores, head of toxicology at CIATEJ and member of the National Committee for the Promotion, Development and Health of Beekeepers, explained to the attendees the generalities about pesticides, the effects they have on bees, on human health, as well as their environmental impact.
He added that Alberto Gallegos Vidales, a law graduate, addressed the legal actions regarding responsibilities for bee deaths, and also pointed out the need to establish analysis protocols that support compliance with current regulations on ecological matters.
