For Famitsu’s annual interview collection (which was also attended by Hideo Kojima) Atlus lent several very interesting voices: Shinjirou Takada, Katsura Hashino, Naoto Hiraoka and Kazuhisa Wada. Everyone talked about their resolutions for 2022, hinting that a huge news is about to arrive.
Shinjiro Takada called this novelty a “pillar“For the company:
I choose ‘challenge’ as the keyword for 2022 in the hope of releasing a title that will become a pillar for Atlus. The staff are working hard on the development to make something that is interesting and satisfying for everyone, so I would be happy if you look forward to it with enthusiasm.
Interestingly, Takada is the head of the production section dealing with Shin Megami Tensei… that refers to a new Person? Or the Hashino project, of which we have been waiting for news for years? According to the latter’s words Project Re Fantasy would indeed have achieved a “Important phase“Development:
Several Atlus titles were released in 2021. We are now entering a period where Altus can finally begin releasing a completely different title. Project Re Fantasy, the game I’m driving that we announced a few years ago, has reached an important stage after a few ups and downs, so I’d like to stay focused and work with the team to shape it. It will be an important year for us to start working on what is to come.
While waiting to find out what these two refer to, Wada instead gives us more concrete news: 2022 will see the launch of the remastered version of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, following the great success of Persona 4 Golden on Steam. It also confirms that the celebrations for Persona’s 25th anniversary will continue, so keep your eyes open for events, collaborations… and who knows, maybe some juicier announcements.
Meanwhile, we would like to point out to all fans of the series, that Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Royal are currently available at a discounted price at this link. What do you think Atlus will have in store for 2022? Come and talk about it on our Facebook group.
