Rahmon expressed interest in negotiations with Kyrgyzstan on border demarcation
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon called for speedy negotiations with the Kyrgyz authorities on the border issue, reports Interfax.
“There is no other way. The government of Tajikistan is interested in holding talks on the demarcation of the state border between Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic as soon as possible,” Rahmon said at a meeting with the leadership and residents of the border town of Isfara.
At the same time, he said that demarcation is a very complex process that will require a lot of time and effort. Rahmon added that Dushanbe and Bishkek have been negotiating since 2002 within the framework of an intergovernmental commission.
