SPD MP Mützenich criticized the idea of shooting down Russian missiles from NATO territories
The head of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Rolf Mützenich, criticized the Bundestag deputies who proposed shooting down Russian missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Ukraine using air defense systems located on the territories of NATO countries. This is what he’s talking about told in an interview with Tagesspiegel.
“The desire to protect Ukrainian airspace through a NATO operation means abandoning the principle that we do not want to actively intervene in a war. I consider such proposals irresponsible and dangerous,” said Mützenich.
The politician emphasized that appropriate actions on the part of the German Armed Forces would turn Berlin into one of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, Austrian political scientist and expert in the field of Eastern Europe and Russia Gerhard Mangott assessed the offensive of the Russian army on Kharkov. He suggested that in this way Russia is trying to create a buffer zone to prevent attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on border settlements.
