Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to attend the G20 summit in Bali in person. On Friday, August 19, the agency reports Bloomberg referring to Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
“Xi Jinping will come. President Putin also told me that he would come, ”the agency quotes Widodo as saying.
Earlier, on August 10, Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow Jose Tavares said that the republic was interested in holding a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
The day before, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that Zelensky could attend the G20 summit in Indonesia if Putin was present there. He noted that the Ukrainian president prefers to work at international summits through an online format, but in this case he is ready to make an exception.
At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that there were no prerequisites for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky yet.
Meanwhile, as Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said on July 20, a decision on the format of Putin’s participation in the summit will be made immediately before the trip.
The G20 summit with the participation of state leaders will be held on November 15-16. Moscow has previously informed Indonesia of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intention to take part in the G20 summit.
