In a note, the Ministry explains that “the study will have to examine the design solution of the multi-span airlift”, in relation to the multiple profiles highlighted in the report presented on 30 April 2021 by the specific working group set up in 2020 at Mims , evaluating its intrinsic sustainability under all the profiles indicated, comparing it with that of the “single span” bridge and with the so-called “zero option”.
In addition, the firm must provide the “elements, of a technical and cognitive nature, needed to evaluate the feasibility of the stable crossing system of the Strait of Messina, also from an economic-financial point of view “.
“The acquisition of the technical-economic feasibility document – details Mims – will be carried out, through a public tender procedure, by the company Rfi Spa, as capable of guaranteeing the most appropriate continuity and interconnection of the intervention with the railway ones designed in the Calabrian and Sicilian territories. For this reason, a mandate was given today to General direction competent to initiate the administrative process, based on the funds allocated for this purpose by the Budget Law for 2021. It should be remembered that in recent months the Government has taken steps to strengthen the dynamic crossing of the Strait of Messina, also thanks to funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) he was born in Complementary plan, earmarking for this purpose 510 million euros “.
