On Wednesday morning, the police in a large-scale action ten people arrested suspected of manufacturing and trafficking synthetic drugs. They were arrested during searches of sixteen locations in Limburg, North Brabant and Belgium. Police tracked down the locations using information from cracked EncroChat, Sky, and Anom servers.
In total, the police searched nine homes in Limburg (six in Weert and one in Maastricht, Roermond and Heerlen), a home in Belgium and six sheds (two in Maastricht, one in Weert and three in Someren, Brabant), where seven people were detained. During the action, a house in the Limburg town of Grevenbicht came into the picture that functioned as a working production location for synthetic drugs. Three more arrests followed.
The raw materials, intermediates and end products in the production site have been confiscated. It is not yet clear which and how many substances are involved. In addition, officers found a sum of money in one of the homes in Weert, the amount of which has not been disclosed. A total of 170 police officers took part in the action.
