UpdateThe police showed in Investigation Requested never-before-seen footage of the four fugitive robbers. One of them has been identified by police as Ibrahim A.
The robbery and flight of the perpetrators were reconstructed in the broadcast by means of previously unreleased surveillance camera images. Images and sound fragments from the deployed police helicopters were also shown when the robbers fled into the meadow in Broek in Waterland. “Four persons, all armed, please think about your safety,” it communicates from the air to police personnel on the ground.
Relaxed
During the police pursuit, five of them are arrested on the spot, a sixth suspect dies. Four others manage to escape and drive to South Rotterdam – during that journey they change cars and license plates.
There they are relaxed the same day, according to the police spokesman Marijke Stor ‘at ease’ captured by security cameras near an alleged safe house what they had. “As if nothing had happened,” Stor said.
One of the four has since been identified. It would be 26-year-old Moroccan-Belgian Ibrahim Ahklal. It is not known who the other fugitives are, but they are very recognizable on images from security cameras. Because all ‘probably come from Belgium or France’, the images have also been distributed there in investigation programs.
ruthless
Police spokesman Stor speaks of ‘professional’ robbers in the broadcast. “We have been preparing for months. Escape vehicles were set up the day before the robbery. They had heavy weapons, transfer addresses. They were really ruthless.”
The robbery can be reconstructed – almost from start to finish – on the basis of security cameras and images from the neighborhood. Images from the police helicopter show the moment that the perpetrators are surrounded by the police and they flee into the meadow. A salient detail: one of the robbers hides himself for a moment in one of the garbage containers in a yard, as can be seen on camera images. He tumbles out – moments later the police arrest him.
The police are not only looking for the perpetrators, but also for the remaining millions of loot. Although much has been recovered, at least four million in valuable material is still missing. This concerns specific, ‘material that is not so easy to trade’, such as buckets of platinum, according to Stor. There is also still 1.5 kilos of gold grains missing.
Anywhere
On May 19 last year, a Brink’s value transport car was delivered at Schöne Edelmetaal on Meeuwenlaan. raids† The robbers fired into the air with automatic weapons. Inside, Schöne employees were tied up. The perpetrators got away with a loot of 14.5 million euros, of which part is still missing†
They fled in several cars to the village of Broek in Waterland, above Amsterdam, being chased by a large police force. In a meadow, the police shot a 47-year-old robber (a Frenchman) dead and arrested five others. In November, the police arrested in Belgium a 20-year-old female suspect and in France a 44-year-old Parisian. The woman is not incarcerated, the Frenchman is.
Reconstruction robbery
The rustic Broek in Waterland experienced the apotheosis of the most extreme crime in the Amsterdam region of 2021. Heavily armed robbers who made millions in Amsterdam-North ended up there after a wild chase in a hail of bullets from the police. Read a reconstruction here.
