Polestar is preparing to compete in the segment of electric sports GTs. How? Through the launch of the new O2 Concept, a more performance focused version of the Precept. It is a two-door convertible with 2 + 2 seating configuration, a model that could represent the real turning point and separation of Polestar from its parent brand, Volvo. Before this happens, however, we have to wait for Polestar to formalize the transformation of this GT concept into a production car, since this has not happened at the moment.
In the event that the Polestar O2 were to remain a simple concept car, you would still have an idea of what it will be there design philosophy which will characterize the future electric models of the Swedish brand. From an aesthetic point of view, in fact, this battery-powered convertible GT concept is characterized by the presence of a low front, angular-shaped headlights, 22 “alloy wheels, a futuristic LED bar with a three-dimensional effect that wraps around the rear and a diffuser with black and gray elements. The sunroof, which can be opened and closed electronically, is made of glass. Inside the cockpit, however, the new Polestar O2 stands out for a 15 ″ vertical touchscreen display and a digital instrument panel, two technological elements that embellish an environment with a truly minimalist style.
And the powertrain? Polestar at the moment did not disclose any details regarding the motoring offer, nor the guaranteed performance in terms of acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h and top speed. On the other hand, the company has made it known when the car is in motion from the rear seats it is possible to pop out a drone, which can follow the car up to a speed of 90 km / h: the drivers, through the central display of the cockpit, can edit and share the images and video footage recorded by the aircraft. We’ll see if Polestar intends to bring this electric GT convertible into production.
