The Pokémon Company International announced Scarlet and Violet – Fairytale Secretthe new expansion of Pokémon Trading Card Gamewhich will be available in stores worldwide starting from August 2, 2024.
The new set will see the debut of Pecharunt, discovered in the DLCs that make up The Treasure of Area Zero of the Scarlet and Violet video games, as a Darkness-type Pokémon that lends itself well to strategies in combinations with the trio of favorites Okidogi-ex, Munkidori-ex and Fezandipiti-ex, also available in this new expansion. Using Pecharunt-ex’s Master Chains Ability, players can switch the Active Pokémon with another Darkness-type on the bench.
Since the eye also wants its part, the parallel holographic cards will show off a new special motif which highlights the illustrations. It will also be possible to recognize them by the presence of the expansion code located in the lower left corner of the card, which in this case appears as a small white box with black text.
In total the new set includes over 95 cards. Notable ones include three “Tactical Ace” trainer cards, five Pokémon-exes and one Pokémon-ex Teracristal, 15 rare cards, 10 ultra-rares, 5 specially illustrated rares, and 5 specially imprinted hyper-golden rares.
The various formats and products available
The Scarlet and Violet – Fairytale Secret expansion will be available starting August 2nd in the following formats:
- Star Player Coach Set: Includes nine booster packs from this expansion, a rare Pecharunt art promotional card, and various game accessories.
- Kingambit illustration collection: includes four booster packs from this expansion, a rare promotional card illustration of Kingambit in the unique style of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print genre) and two holographic promotional cards of Pawniard and Bisharp.
- Kingdra-ex special illustration collection: includes five booster packs from this expansion, a rare special illustration promotional card of Kingdra-ex in the unique style of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print genre), and two holographic promotional cards of Horsea and Seadra.
- Greninja-ex special illustration collection: includes five booster packs from this expansion, a rare promotional card special illustration of Greninja-ex in the unique style of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print genre) and two holographic promotional cards of Froakie and Frogadier.
- Pack of three envelopes with promotional paper: Includes three booster packs from this expansion and one foil Pecharunt promotional card.
- Collectible mini box: includes two booster packs of this expansion, a sheet of stickers, and a card with art of Dusknoir, Zoroark, Okidogi, Munkidori, or Fezandipiti, to match the box.
- Pack of envelopes of the Scarlet and Violet – Fairytale Secret expansion (from September 6, 2024): includes six booster packs from this expansion.
The news doesn’t end here. The day before the release of the Scarlet and Violet – Fairytale Secret expansion, i.e. August 1st, the set will be available in the Pokémon Live TCG app, the virtual version of the card game for PC and iOS and Android mobile devices.
