Sony against probable legal action.
Last November, a former employee of the cybersecurity department of PlayStation Network filed a complaint against Sony Interactive Entertainment, in a tense context that had already hit publishers like Activision and Ubisoft. Emma Majo she believed she had been the victim of an unfair dismissal for having denounced what she perceived as a discriminatory culture against her and in that of women in general.
Recently the Axios website published the response from Sony Interactive Entertainment, which denies the allegations of its former employee and asked the court to dismiss the complaint as not based on any proven fact. With her denunciation, Emma Majo wants to involve other women who worked for PlayStation to organize a collective action.
“Despite the broad scope of her lawsuit, allegations of which SIE categorically denies, Emma Majo has presented no facts to support her individual claims or those on behalf of the broad categories of women she seeks to represent.“, wrote the lawyer of the company.
In the complaint, Emma Majo claims that Sony systematically pays women less than men for similar jobs and denounces the lack of promotions, claiming she was fired for no reason after filing a sex discrimination complaint.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, on the other hand, states that Emma Majo “is unable to identify a single policy, practice or procedure at SIE that has been the basis of widespread intentional discrimination or that has had a discriminatory impact on women”.
