Yesterday Sony announced the acquisition of Savage Game Studios, a team specializing in mobile games which, according to information dating back to the beginning of 2021, has two games in the pipeline, one of which is FPS.
Savage Game Studios has joined PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, a new division of Sony that will make new and existing IP-based games.
According to what Venturebeat reported in early 2021, the studio received $ 4.4 million in funding from Makers Fund and Play Ventures to develop two games, including an FPS. These projects were scheduled for last year but, probably due to the pandemic, the works have stopped.
As for the FPS of Savage Game Studios, the CEO of the company Michail Katkoff had defined it as a “cooperative PvE looter shooter“free-to-play.
“After the battle royale boom in 2018, FPS has focused on fast and competitive gameplay. In our opinion, there is room for games that offer rewarding sessions without the pressure of PvP experiences“said the CEO in 2021.
At the moment, there is no other information on these Savage Game Studios projects and it is also possible that the team is no longer working on these games. Following the announcement of the acquisition, we learned that the Helsinki and Berlin-based studio is working on an action-focused, live-service AAA mobile title.
