Third season de Pino Allievi’s Coffee, the podcast of FormulaPassion.it to open up the fans’ day immediately following a race weekend, but not only.
The topic of this episode is the commentary on the Singapore Grand Prix, won by Sergio Perez before Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Leclerc, who started from pole position, was burned at the start by Perez who took the lead without leaving it until the checkered flag.
The race was characterized, as expected on a city circuit, by several off the track of the drivers that caused the entry of two safety cars. Perez’s victory was under the judge for several hours due to the extremely long time taken by the race marshals to make a decision on an infringement committed by the Mexican driver. Checo was in fact found guilty on two occasions of having left more than 10 cars between himself and the safety carwhich resulted in a penalty of 5 seconds on the final time but which in any case did not alter the order of arrival.
Ferrari has given a good test of itself, steadily occupying the second and third place in the race, however Leclerc was never able to overtake Perez who always defended his leadership well. The pony race was very solid and in any case penalized by the bad start of Leclerc who took off from the slippery side of the track wet by torrential rain that had even postponed the start of the race for more than an hour.
Max Verstappen ran into a disappointing weekend. A mistake by his team in the amount of petrol loaded on his car during qualifying had relegated him to eighth place on the grid. The bad start and some unusual driving errors for him, probably caused by the desire to overdo it to recover positions on a track where overtaking is extremely difficult, meant that his final tally was a meager seventh place. His assault on the mathematical conquest of the second world title will therefore be postponed to Suzuka in seven days.
