Third season de Pino Allievi’s Coffee, the podcast of FormulaPassion.it to open up the fans’ day immediately following a race weekend, but that’s not all.
The topic of this episode is the commentary on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix won by Max Verstappen, before Sergio Perez and George Russell. A grand prix that ended in the early stages, after the bitter retirement of Charles Leclerc due to the breakdown of the propeller of his Ferrari. The Monegasque driver appeared visibly and understandably disappointed after the race. The last three races have always seen him among the favorites for the victory but two retirements and a botched strategy in Monaco really risk having thrown a heavy mortgage on his legitimate world aspirations.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix also saw the second Ferrari, that of Carlos Sainz, retiring even earlier than his teammate due to a problem with the hydraulic system of his SF-75. A double retirement that makes it even more difficult for Maranello to look to the next races with the hope of recovering the ground lost further in both world rankings.
They are indeed well 34 the points of delays of Leclerc, third in the standings, on the world leader Verstappen. Really 80 the points behind the constructors’ standings with respect to Red Bull. The third strength remains Mercedes which in Baku obtained a good haul of points thanks to Russell’s podium but also in fourth place in Lewis Hamilton.
There is little time left for the teams to assess this race, because a Montreal, another engine track, which could put Ferrari engines in further difficulty.
