The mayor of Bujaraloz (Zaragoza) and deputy spokesperson in the Cortes of Aragon, Darío Villagrasa, has resigned from running for the general secretary of the PSOE Aragonese, with which the Minister of Education and Government spokesperson, Pilar Alegríahas the path free to be the successor of Javier Lambán.
In an appearance at the party headquarters in Zaragoza shortly before the deadline for the presentation of pre-candidacies opens this Friday, Villagrasa announced that abandons the race for the leadership of the Aragonese PSOE understanding that “converging” with the other candidate, for the sake of unity, “is what is best for the party.”
Supported by those close to Lambán, Villagrasa has thus ended his aspiration to lead the Aragonese PSOE in the face of the trickle of public support that the Minister of Education has collected from the most relevant socialist groups.
