Ingredients needed for a preparation for 6 people
Making puff pastry palmeritas may seem like a complex task, although in reality it is very simple if you follow the steps, and you can even prepare them from your home oven. To do this, only two ingredients will be needed, which are:
- 1 sheet of refrigerated puff pastry.
- 4 tablespoons of white sugar.
Specifically, this recipe will not take more than five minutes of preparation, in addition to a quarter of an hour in the oven to obtain the desired texture, making it also a great option to cook with friends or with the little ones in the house.
How to make puff pastry palmeritas at home and make them very crispy
To begin making the homemade puff pastry palmeritas, start by spreading the refrigerated puff pastry sheet on a flat area, such as a countertop. Next, sprinkle two tablespoons of sugar over the entire surface until it is correctly distributed throughout the dough.
After that, begin to fold the ends of the puff pastry, rolling 3 centimeters of dough on each side until the two edges touch each other in the center of the product. Once the iron has been completely folded, put it in the refrigerator to rest while you prepare the oven.

To preheat the oven, turn it on to a temperature of about 190 degrees for five minutes. When the appliance is hot enough, take the dough out of the refrigerator and cut it into portions of about a centimeter each.
To continue, place each portion on a baking tray and use non-stick paper so that the dough does not stick when cooking. Before inserting the dish into the appliance, sprinkle the remaining two tablespoons of sugar over the surface of each puff pastry palmerita. This will allow the result to be even crispier.
Once everything is ready, place the tray in the oven at 190 degrees, with heat up and down, for approximately seven minutes. It is important not to open the appliance door repeatedly during this time so that the accumulated heat does not escape.
During baking, the puff pastry palms will take on a more rigid consistency and brown on the outside. When they start to turn brown and golden tones, open the oven door and turn them over so that they also turn the same color on the other side.
Once both sides have the desired appearance, turn off the oven and remove them from it. Finally, change the tray so they can rest and cool. At this point, the puff pastry palmeritas will be ready for consumption, although it is advisable to store the leftovers in an airtight container such as a container to allow them to remain crispy for as long as possible.
What to eat homemade puff pastry palmeritas with
The puff pastry palmeritas can be eaten alone, since they have a crunchy texture and a sweet flavor, although as previously mentioned, there are multiple ways to enjoy them. When rolling the dough, it is possible to introduce another ingredient such as cooked ham or salmon so that the final result is salty.
In the same way, it is common to accompany the puff pastry palmeritas with a coffee or a glass of milk, although another ideal alternative for the cold of the first months of the year is to complement the food with a good hot chocolate.
