The legislative proposal, if approved, will introduce a number of significant changes to the sector. The concept of service pharmacy – explains a note – took shape with legislative decree no. 153 of 3 October 2009, which outlined new responsibilities and healthcare functions for public and private pharmacies in agreement with the National Health Service. This new pharmacy model, which goes beyond the dispensing of medicines, stands out for the wide range of services offered, such as the provision of personalized healthcare services complementary to drug therapy, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of the patients. Following this decree, pharmacies began to offer a series of services, including the home dispensing of drugs and medical devices, the preparation and delivery of mixtures for artificial nutrition, as well as making healthcare workers available for services. professionals required by general practitioners. Furthermore, health education services and prevention campaigns have been introduced, as well as self-monitoring services and the insertion of semi-automatic defibrillators.
