The 208 is no longer the Peugeot branded model best seller in Italy. After years of leadership on our market, the small car of the Lion gives the scepter to the new Peugeot 2008: over 30,000 sales of the SUV registered in our country, of which about 3,000 concerning the 100% electric variant of the model, in the range of the French company none model was able to obtain these figures. Not even the other SUV proposed by Peugeot, the 3008 (the first SUV in history to be elected “Car of the Year”), which complete the podium.
It was the beginning of 2020 when Peugeot decided to launch the new 2008 on the Italian market: although the pandemic was bringing the entire automotive sector to its knees, the SUV immediately managed to be very successful. reaching the threshold of 60,000 units sold since launch. A popularity confirmed also in this 2021: as mentioned, the new 2008 was the best-selling model over the twelve months by the Lion house in Italy, preceding the 208 and the legendary 3008. A successful model in Italy as in Europe: in November alone, for example, it was the most registered SUV in the B segment in the old continent. This was also possible due to a rich and advantageous range also economically: in fact, we recall that, with 6 distinct set-ups to choose from, prices start at € 22,700 for petrol engines, € 24,700 for diesel and € 38,750 for the 100% electric version.
The latter above all is continuing to grow its market share: it is a version of the SUV equipped with one 50 kWh battery and equipped with a 100% electric engine capable of delivering 136 hp of total power and 260 Nm of maximum torque, boasting a range of 345 kilometers. This zero-emission variant joins those thermal of the SUV: the petrol range offers a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder PureTech turbo in three different power levels, 100, 130 or 155 hp, while the diesel one counts on a 1.5-liter BlueHDi with 110 or 130 hp.
