RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Members of Petrobras and the federal government’s transition group discussed divestments and strategic planning this Tuesday, in the second face-to-face meeting held between the parties, said Senator Jean Paul Prates (PT-RN), a member of the transition team, in a note.
The company, according to the senator, presented to the transition group the general lines of the 2023-2027 strategic plan, recently approved, with assumptions and focuses projected for the period.
The agenda for the meeting had already been released the day before.
“Issues related to the company’s portfolio management and challenges for the implementation of new projects were debated,” he said.
On the divestment side, Prates explained that the sale of parts of the company or businesses that have Petrobras’ participation was also discussed at the meeting.
The company’s divestment schedule was detailed and Petrobras provided information on the remaining stages in some ongoing projects, and responded to questions from the Working Group (GT), he explained.
“The WG observed an important inflection in the priority given to the energy transition through profitable diversification, identified as essential by the members of the transition to ensure the company’s sustainability in the long term based on the evaluation of horizons with new energy sources”, added Prates .
The main objective of the transition team is to look for a picture of what is currently happening with the oil company and raise points of attention on possible urgencies, including on topics that may conflict with the views of the elected government, explained to Reuters the day before the team member Magda Chambriard.
