This Sunday, in the afternoon, the now president-elect of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took victory in the elections with 50.9 percent of the votes, thus surpassing his opponent Jair Bolsonaro.
At the end of the ballot, which gave Lula the winner, the leaders of Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Argentina, France, and the United States expressed their congratulations to the new president of Brazil. Gustavo Petrocelebrated the victory, as well as Alberto Fernandezpresident of Argentina, assured that a “time of hope in the region” is beginning.

“Long live Lula”, tweeted Gustavo Petro
With a short “Long live Lula“, the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, rushed, even before the vote was over, to celebrate the victory of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the Brazilian elections and the return of the left to power.
Petro, close to Lula, thus echoed the trade unionist’s return to the Presidency of Brazil, which he won in the second round. Lula was, together with the Chilean Gabriel Boric and the Mexican Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the axes on which Petro wanted to build a new Latin American union bloc.

Biden congratulates Lula after “free” and “fair” elections
The president of United States Joe Biden congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Sunday for his victory in “free, fair and credible” presidential elections, in a statement released by the White House.
“I send my congratulations to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for his election to be the next president of Brazil after free, fair and credible elections,” he says. “I hope that we work together to continue cooperation between our two countries in the coming months and years,” he added shortly after the leftist leader defeated far-right Jair Bolsonaro in the runoff by a very narrow margin.
In recent weeks, congressmen from the ruling Democratic Party have called on Joe Biden to recognize the results of the elections in Brazil soon, for fear that Bolsonaro would question them if he lost.
The United States is one of the main trading partners of Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America and the thirteenth in the world by volume of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canelcongratulated the elected president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for his “great victory” this Sunday at the polls and greeted with his election the return of “social justice” to the South American country.

The president of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, congratulated the president-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for his victory this Sunday in the second round of the presidential elections in that country.
“I greet the Brazilian people for their democratic electoral contest, and I congratulate the newly elected president @LulaOficial, wishing him the greatest success,” Cortizo said on his social networks.
“We hope to continue traveling together the path of friendship and cooperation for the benefit of our nations,” added the Panamanian leader. Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won this Sunday the second round of the presidential elections in Brazil with 50.84% of the votes, compared to 49.16% obtained by the current ruler, Jair Bolsonaro, with 99.10%. of the ballot boxes counted.
