Persona 5 Royal: Atlus has confirmed that those who own the PS4 version will not be able to upgrade to the PS5 version

Atlus Japan has published the official FAQ of the new versions of Persona 5 Royalconfirming that whoever owns the PS4 versionwill not be able to switch to PS5 version. That is, there will be no options or discounts to upgrade. Basically, those who want to play with the latest generation version of Persona 5 Royal will have to buy it back, paying it at full price.

Atlus’s answer to a request very direct was explicit and difficult to misunderstand:

“Question: If I purchased the PS4 version of Persona 5 Royal, can I upgrade to the PS5 version?
Answer: Sorry, but there are no purchase options for Persona 5 Royal owners on PS4. We would love for you to purchase the PS5 version of Persona 5 Royal when you play on the PS5.”

The news probably won’t please many fans of the game on PS4, especially those interested in replaying it on PS5, because they have basically been told that they will have to pay another € 80 if they want the latest version of Persona 5 Royal. In these cases it would be nice to see publishers making choices that are favorable to gamers.
