2024: an almost perfect start
In the first two GPs of the season, in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Red Bull was able to celebrate two doubles thanks to the victories of Max Verstappen and in 2nd place Sergio Perez. A result which, however, was not repeated in Australia, thanks to the sensational withdrawal of the Dutchman due to technical problems and the 5th place of the Mexican, all while Melbourne smiled at Ferrari, in turn the author of a 1-2 with Sainz and Leclerc.
The gap between Verstappen and Perez
In Suzuka the Milton Keynes manufacturer redeemed itself with its third double of the season. Checo therefore managed to keep his concentration high and got back behind the #1 in the standings, which he has always demonstrated a higher pace and consistency of his teammate, who joined Red Bull in 2021.
Study Max and focus on yourself
With his contract expiring at the end of this season, and with his stay at Red Bull still in doubt, Perez has once again indicated his personal 'tactics' not only to obtain convincing results, but also to be able to face more near Verstappen: “I'm just giving it my all in all areas – he told RacingNews365 – I think Max is a very complete driver, very strong in qualifying and in the race. He very rarely has weaknesses or makes mistakes. He is driving at a very high level, and I think if you look back, even in the last two qualifying sessions, he was the only driver able to make the most of his potential. So I just want to focus on myself, obviously keeping an eye on what he is doing and how he gets the most out of the car. At the same time, I believe it is important to focus on myself to get the most out of myselfand if I succeed I know that I will always be closer“.
