Pensions, the blow coming from 2023. Lower amounts due to the collapse of GDP
Bad news arrives for the future retirees. Due to the collapse of GDP in the last 5 years, those who stop working from 2023 onwards will receive a reduced allowance. This was certified by Istat, explaining – we read in the Sole 24 Ore – that the revaluation referred to 2023 of the contributions accrued at the INPS should be negative, because this was the average of the last five years of GDP. The reduction will not be directly applied to the accumulated benefits, but will affect the first coefficient that will go positive, that will undergo a reduction of 0.0215%, scheduled for this year.
Thus – continues the Sun – two alarm bells go off. The first concerns the final performance that INPS will be able to guarantee. Projections on pensions are calculated using an average GDP growth of 1.5%, but these values are far from those recorded in recent years. The second alarm bell relates to the sustainability of the system. The current benefits are paid with the contributory system, but when the revaluation coefficient is lowered, as in the case of recent years, the system no longer holds up.
