Italy is about to pass “the first law in the world that will recognize obesity as a disease. The process should be completed by the end of the year. We are at a good point, also thanks to the collaboration of all political parties because the norm was awaited for years”. This is what Roberto Pella, Forza Italia MP and co-president of the parliamentary intergroup ‘Obesity and diabetes’, told Adnkronos Salute, who – on the sidelines of the 31st European congress on obesity, in Venice – estimates the timeframe for the approval of the law that bears his name, now being examined by the Social Affairs Committee of the Chamber.
