Guadalajara Jalisco.- After a brief administration, Pedro Salmeron yesterday handed over the reins of Regional Museum of Guadalajara to Blanca Alicia Martinez Cano.
The controversial historian spent just eight months at the head of the venue, from which he separated to be called to lead, unsuccessfully, the diplomatic representation of Mexico in Panama, an appointment that the Central American country stopped due to the multiple accusations of sexual harassment against him.
“My only regret is having to leave after a absurd media stormAs my friend Fabrizio Mejía says, a great intellectual from the National University; For some reason, every 15 days a wave of slander is unleashed, a media storm whose real objective is not the person whose turn it is, but the President (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) and the Government,” he told a press conference say goodbye to the Guadalajara museum, which depends on the INAH.
And he added: “Today we are experiencing the artificial storm around (José Ramón López Beltrán), the son of the President; three weeks ago it was my turn and I regret having to leave because the INAH does not deserve that, nor does the Guadalajara museum , because, besides, I already demonstrated it where it has to be demonstrated, they are slander: it is the only thing I regret”.
Since it became known that Salmerón had been proposed as Ambassador to Panamawere revived allegations of sexual harassment against him by students of the ITAM.
The controversy escalated in social networks and the label #AHarasserShouldNotBeAmbassador it became a national trend, with the Panamanian Foreign Ministry responding negatively to the appointment; López Obrador, after defending the historian, had to withdraw nomination and named in her place the scenic artist Jesusa Rodriguezwhose endorsement is still pending.
