During the Sony conference held on the occasion of CES 2024the company didn't talk much about video games, as we have seen, but at a certain point a short sequence appeared relating to a mysterious Patapon which could refer to a new game in development for the series.
During a presentation which mainly concerned various technological issues quite distant from video games and which, contrary to expectations, did not even touch PlayStation VR2 much, there was space for some marginal announcements on the gaming front, such as the presentation of the Gravity Rush movies and updates on the God of War and Horizon series.
At a certain point, however, a video dedicated to the productions appeared Torchlightalso responsible for the animations of the Gravity Rush film, and among the ongoing projects was also shown what appears to be a new Patapon.
A new chapter coming?
The particular rhythm action game it came out in 2007 on PSP and had a sequel a couple of years later. Both Patapons were then also brought to PlayStation 4 with improved graphics and increased resolution, but we haven't heard anything about them for almost 10 years.
Despite the good success achieved, Sony has no longer financed further chapters of the series, with the team responsible for presenting the new Ratatan on Kickstarter last year clearly considered a spiritual successor to the original.
Designer Hiroyuki Kotani has not ruled out the possibility of returning to work with Sony for a new chapter of Patapon, but so far there has been no news on the matter, at least until last night's conference. The video fragment with the alleged game hasn't been commented on much, so we don't know precisely what it refers to at the moment.
