Parliamentary elections | SDP’s Kumpula-Natri chooses between parliaments – If he leaves the EU, Liike Nyt will replace him

Uusimaa elected to parliament from the constituency Miapetra Kumpula-Natri (sd) has to make a choice between two parliaments.

Kumpula-Natri, who was elected to the EU Parliament in 2019, would have one year left before the next European Parliament elections.

If he now accepts the MP’s credentials in the Finnish Parliament, his personal deputy will be elected to the European Parliament Fairy tale Taavitsainenwho has recently defected to become a member of Liike Nyt.

Taavitsaisen getting into the EU parliament would be problematic for Sdp.

According to Demokrati magazine and STT Taavitsainen has been in the middle of disputes in his hometown Mikkeli to such an extent that the local association of social democrats did not accept him as a candidate in the parliamentary elections. After this, Taavitsainen defected to Liike Nyti.

At the end of March, the regional council of Etelä-Savo fired Taavitsainen’s vice-chairman from his post because of social media posts, says Yle. Earlier in January, the Mikkeli city council had dismissed him from the position of vice-chairman of the city board.

Taavitsainen was Liike Nyt’s candidate in the parliamentary elections, but was not elected.

Kumpula-Natri told HS on Tuesday evening that he will make his decision before the meeting of the Sdp’s parliamentary group on Thursday and will tell about his decision there.

If Kumpula-Natri postpones her transition to MP by a year, the Master of Political Science, who ranked second on the Sdp’s list from the constituency of Uusimaa, will enter the parliament Helena Marttila (sd) from Espoo.

Marttila is a city councilor in Espoo and a regional councilor for the welfare region of Western Uusimaa.
