Pamela Franco is a Peruvian singer who seeks to reinvent herself artistically. Furthermore, her relationship with Christian Dominguez She is no stranger to criticism and, recently, it was said that both would be going through a bad time. Even in a television program, both began to complain about some things. For this reason, the artist spoke with The Republic to discuss his situation with the leader of the Great International Orchestra and, in addition, he told us about his new projects.

—How did you get started in music?
—Well, I started more or less eight years ago. I say more or less because they called me for Alma Bella, because I started with a cumbia group and I was there for several years. I have already been a soloist for a year, but before that I spent all that time in the two (versions of) Alma Bella and the last thing was that I was in Puro Sentimiento before forming my own orchestra.
—You studied Accounting, how did you decide to dedicate yourself fully to the artistic world?
—I tell you: I did finish my degree, I am a member. I even also wanted to study a second career, which I love and I hope that at some point I will return to it. It’s marketing, but I have had music (present) since I can remember, that is, I come from a family of musicians, my father, my brother, my nephews and my mother also sang. So, I’ve always sung, not professionally, like I’m doing now, but I was always inclined towards music. I never thought, honestly, that I would get to the point of leaving my career to be able to dedicate myself fully and professionally to being a singer. This happened when I came to work here at Diario El Peruano, (in a position) in my career and I had for the second time a proposal from the person who introduced me to the world of music professionally: Mr. Nilver Huarac. I decided to opt for music because I didn’t feel a little good and well, it was part of youth, when you make such drastic decisions, right?
—Recently, Christian Domínguez said in an interview that he considered you the best voice in cumbia…
—The truth is that I have never liked to flatter myself. I know what I am, I like how I sing, I like doing it, but I couldn’t call myself the best singer or the best voice. Well, my sweetheart tells me because, well, it’s like they were asking me, right? For me he is a super artist, very complete. (The comment) comes from him to me, but I couldn’t do it myself to say that I am the best singer.
—Not only do you sing cumbia…
—I sing about everything. When I was little, my dad made me sing huaino, waltzes, boleros, merengue (and others). The thing is that my family had an orchestra, so it was inevitable not to sing everything. I was also in a salsa orchestra here in Lima (Salsa Bella), I have had the opportunity to sing all genres and we also do that in Pamela Franco y Orquesta’s live show. I get to do everything and the truth is that for me it is no effort because I love music in general and I feel like I can sing anything.
—A few days ago, your photos no longer appeared on your Instagram account, which also included Christian Domínguez, what happened?
—I think I would have nothing to clarify because I have not deleted (photos), but archived. Obviously all the people who have seen my profile (know that) I not only had photos with Christian, but with my mother, my family and my daughter. So, I have archived all the photos. Even on their social networks (the photos) were intact. We have not even put subliminal or indirect messages, that is, there was nothing. The truth is that it surprised me; However, I also know that we are in an environment where these things happen, right? I honestly have nothing to clarify. Why did I archive all my photos? Well now I am working with a production company that is promoting my career. So they know the issue of networks, they have my platforms and they want to manage them in a better way. Sometimes it’s good to renew yourself and start from scratch, right? And that does not mean that I have deleted those photos, because I could never delete those, since they are memories for my entire life.
YOU CAN SEE: Pamela Franco: what career did the singer study and what did she do before joining Alma Bella?
—On Monday (October 16) you were on ‘America Today’ and you were complaining about some things to Christian, was this real or just part of the show?
—I love to annoy Christian and, before people bother us, I annoy him. Regarding the cell phone issue, it’s obviously a joke, I mean, who can think that I’m going to get upset and (say) that I’m fed up. (It was) like part of the moment part of a joke, if you want to call it that. Honestly, it came out, I meant it. He had passed by and I wanted to bother him. The trip is something that we already have to do as a couple, if we are going to do it, but I also understand that we are going through a moment in which we have priorities as a family, remember that we are no longer a single couple, but we have a daughter. There are responsibilities involved and there are also dreams. Any sane person knows that to achieve them you have to make sacrifices. In the job that we both have, we are both fighting to get ahead and thus be able to fulfill that. Maybe it is taking up a little bit of our time, but after everything that has happened, I don’t know if you are going to let me lie and think the same thing and suddenly many will also think, after the quarantine we have changed the chip. (For them) work no longer has the same value, it really has much more weight, so having a job right now is a privilege. Thank God, there is work, so we have to take it with that importance and I know that at some point we are going to take our getaway because it is necessary, but then everything is a joke. We are calm.
-Where you would like to travel?
—I would like to go outside the country, but the realities are also different. I’m a mom. The thing is that I can’t blame everything on Christian either because I am very attached to my daughter, so if I leave it will be for a few days and I will have to be close to her because she is still little. I think that as she grows, too. We are going to have more freedoms and I can be calmer
—The work of both of you requires time, do you feel that it is affecting your relationship and how you are raising your daughter?
—We are multiplying by 100, if people could be here with us they could realize that we do wonders, because we both work while traveling. At night, when you work, you don’t sleep the next day. Well, when I work, I come and I have to continue with my daughter. Likewise, if he comes on a regular trip we try and he has free time, because he accompanies me and vice versa. Furthermore, his (other) children are also with his family. If possible, we get together, Christian’s parents come. Right now time is money for us, so we try to make the most of it as much as possible.
—What do you think of Magaly Medina’s criticism, who said that Christian usually gives away “toy rings”?
—No, it’s not a toy, it’s a gift that he gave me a long time ago and I take it that way. I don’t know why they kill me (for saying) ‘Oh, they’re cheating on you with their fake ring’, but I don’t have an engagement ring and I don’t pressure Christian to give it to me either because that’s something that is born from the other person. I already have my family. I believe that each person’s happiness is different and no one knows me to know how I am, no one knows me to know what makes me happy and I am calm, I cannot fight with the world. The lady or any other driver can think 1,000 things. What happens is that people take the things that happen on television to heart.
—Do you have wedding plans?
—At the moment we have an important priority and, until I achieve that priority, I am not interested in anything else. I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not a hypocrite, but I’m not dying (to get married), I’m not telling you that I wouldn’t want to, I would like to. That party, because the wedding is a party, is the icing on the cake, you could say. (…) We have thought about it, we have talked about it, we dreamed about it together, yes, of course, but we have to let things flow and I don’t put pressure on myself, I don’t feel bad. I’m honestly not interested in other things (criticism).
—This year we have seen many couples break up. What do you think could be happening?
—It’s a shame, honestly. Well, there are some couples who have separated and have children. When there is a family, it is different, there is still suffering and pain, but everything passes, right? Each head is a (different) world, each relationship is different. Having a family is quite difficult, it is difficult for two people who are totally different to understand each other, even more so with a child and the burden of responsibility and work, because there are many things. It is a day-to-day job that has to be done in pairs, because when one person stops fighting, this is over. So I believe that each couple is different. I am not going to say today that this is not going to affect me, God willing, I hope not. At least, in my daily life, I am fighting it. We are fighting. We are trying to be better people, a better couple and together as parents. And well, I hope this doesn’t happen to us.

—Tell us about your work, you just released new musical material…
—Yes, I am very happy, now I want to make everything more professional and I started with this, this tribute to Los Ángeles Negros, which has a very important meaning for me, since these songs are from my memory and take me back to my childhood. I told you that I come from a family of musicians, so it was inevitable not to be able to listen to this song, they are four beautiful songs and two of them have a very, very special meaning. The first, which is ‘And I will return’, a song that was the first I sang in my life, on stage. And the last song, which is called ‘Murió la flor’, I have always liked, but today, since I don’t have my mother and all the people who have lost a very loved family member, then it is inevitable, no sing it, not listen to it and remember that loved one, right? It’s one of those songs where you close your eyes and feel like you have that loved one next to you.
—What is the best memory you have of your mother?
—What I remember most about my mother is that she was a very good woman, she was very kind and noble. Every time I have the opportunity to look at her I try to have a little bit of her because it is inevitable that I look like her. So my mom couldn’t stop helping, she was capable of taking away what she had in her mouth to give it to someone and it didn’t necessarily have to be her family, but to anyone and that for me is something that I always knew. I stay. That is one of the many things that my mother has and I always speak in the present because I don’t like to feel it in the past.
—What will be your next presentations?
—Well, all the presentations are on social networks, the same as the number of contracts, I have corporate events, the truth is that we are also traveling throughout Peru.
—Any message to your followers?
—I am always grateful, because there are good people who wish you the best. I stay with all those encouraging words. For all people, a big kiss, grateful with all my heart. I hope you continue supporting me and that you join my networks on my platforms so you can see all the content that has been made with a lot of love, from Pamela Franco for all of you. To continue fighting for your dreams.
