Palworld has been officially sued from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company: the title, which arrived exclusively on Xbox consoles at the beginning of 2024, immediately captured the attention of players due to its great similarity, both in terms of game structure and design of the individual monsters, with the well-known franchise from Game Freak.
The announcement comes via a note released directly on Nintendo’s official websitewith which the company announces that it has started legal action against the Pocketpair product, accused of having infringed numerous patents.
“Nintendo will continue to take appropriate action against any infringement of its intellectual property rights, including the Nintendo brand itself, to protect the intellectual property rights it has worked to build over the years.”
This is stated in the press release published by Nintendo, a company certainly known not only for its historic franchises, but also for its (justified) severity against copyright infringement and piracy.
We are now waiting for answers from Pocketpair representatives, who will have to defend themselves from the harsh accusations against them: it is not clear what the future of Palworld will be, given these premises, but we will keep you updated on all the news on what is expected to be one of the most interesting video game cases of 2024.
